For this is death, not of the flesh, but of the soul.

How great and how much worse it is to die that death

than to die the death of the flesh.

For at the last all who die in human flesh rise again;

but all who die in the spirit rise not.

And that death destroys more by taking away a life

that perhaps can never be restored

than when it takes away life because necessity demands it.

It is worse to cease from a life of righteousness,

through which one loses the life of bliss,
